Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights has captured readers’ imaginations since its publication in 1847. A staple on modern high school and college syllabi, the love triangle between Edgar, Cathy and Heathcliff ignites the sympathies of fans young and old—drawn in either by the all-consuming nature of adolescent passions or by rueful wisdom about love’s lessons learned. Theater Artemis’ adaptation focuses on the teenagers and their restless hearts. Caught between the cultured world that Edgar offers and the wild force of nature that is Heathcliff, Cathy refuses to decide between her head and her heart. But “choices must be made, endless choices, one after the other… and every choice is final.”
