The people of Darfur have suffered greatly for nearly a decade. Today, over a quarter of a million live in refugee camps — and nearly two-thirds of these are children. Yet despite their plight, these children dream of a brighter tomorrow and long for the chance to learn so that someday they might achieve their dreams. But to learn, they need books.
Book Wish Foundation, an all-volunteer charity founded by a mother-and-son team, has been bringing books to the children of Darfur since 2007. To help raise money for this worthy cause, 18 of today’s leading authors for young people have created original stories and poems and put them together in a new book called What You Wish For. All of the authors have donated their work to this collection so that Book Wish Foundation can donate 100% of its proceeds from this book towards the building of libraries in the refugee camps in Chad. To support the efforts of these generous authors, Books of Wonder is truly honored to host an event with seven of the contributors to What You Wish For.
