Beginning at 5pm, Caledcott Medalists DAVID WIESNER & JERRY PINKNEY take the stage and picture book lovers are in for a first encounter with their two new books. First three-time Caldecott Medalist DAVID WIESNER introduces Mr. Wuffles, the near wordless story of a rather picky feline and the odd contents of it’s favorite new toy. As Mr. Wuffles paws at his toy space ship which unassumingly blends in with all his other toys, he has little clue that the little green beings within are not having nearly as much fun! Then Caldecott Medalist and five-time Caldecott Honor artist JERRY PINKNEY sounds the start on The Tortise & the Hare, the classic Aesop fable set anew in America’s southwest which brings this storied race to vivid life and makes a fitting companion to his Caldecott Award-winning The Lion & the Mouse.
