That’s the question legendary author and illustrator Eric Carle asked 14 of today’s most notable picture book creators to answer for this wonderful book created to raise funds for and celebrate The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art. Each artist described and illustrated their answer in a gorgeous two-page spread, all compiled into a beautiful new picture book! Be sure to join in the zoological fun on Saturday, February 22nd, as we welcome 5 of the award-winning contributors to share their favorite animals with your young book-lovers.
This fun-filled afternoon will surely have your young animal lovers howling and hooting with delight, and looking at animals with a new appreciation! Come meet five of the wonderful picture book creators who have contributed to What’s Your Favorite Animal? Beginning at 1pm, Caldecott Honor artist SUSAN JEFFERS hops into the saddle with her favorite animal (a horse); Caldecott Honor artist PETER MCCARTY hops along with his favorite animal (a bunny rabbit); Two-time Caldecott Medalist CHRIS RASCHKA takes it slow and steady with his favorite animal (a snail); Caldecott Honor artist PETER SIS takes us back to his childhood home in the Czech Republic for a swim with his favorite animal (a blue carp); and NY Times bestselling and award-winning picture book creator ROSEMARY WELLS tells us all about her favorite fuzzy animal (her dog). This star-studded event is a wonderful reason to spend an afternoon with your young ones at Books of Wonder! Beginning at 5pm, Caledcott Medalists DAVID WIESNER & JERRY PINKNEY take the stage and picture book lovers are in for a first encounter with their two new books. First three-time Caldecott Medalist DAVID WIESNER introduces Mr. Wuffles, the near wordless story of a rather picky feline and the odd contents of it’s favorite new toy. As Mr. Wuffles paws at his toy space ship which unassumingly blends in with all his other toys, he has little clue that the little green beings within are not having nearly as much fun!
