Be sure to join us at 1pm as author PHIL BILDNER scores with  The Soccer Fence,  the poignant story of a boy with big soccer dreams growing up in apartheid ruled South Africa; bestselling author and artist and creator of the iconic Arthur series, MARC BROWN takes us on a tour of his favorite city with In New York, a colorful journey through the eras and locations that make New York unforgettable; esteemed illustrator RAUL COLON hits a home run with Baseball Is…, a vivid and detailed exploration of all the things that make up America’s favorite pastime; Coretta Scott King Award-winning artist FLOYD COOPER raises the curtain on A Dance Like Starlight: One Ballerina’s Dream, the moving story of a young African American ballerina chasing her dreams in the face of 1950’s racial segregation; award-winning artist BARBRA McCLINTOCK asks the question Where’s Mommy?, as a young girl and her young mouse friend both go searching for their missing mothers — only to discover that their moms have a secret of their own!; author and illustrator AARON MESHON hits the nail on the head with  Tools Rule! , in which we meet all the hardworking tools who have come together to build a backyard shed; and author SHARON ROBINSON (daughter of baseball legend Jackie Robinson) sheds light on Under the Same Sun, the warm, spirited story of an American family and their eye-opening trip to Africa. There are some people that the world will never forget; people who remind us that one person can forever change the course of history. On Friday, March 21st, Books of Wonder will celebrate the memory of Indian independence leader Mahatma Gandhi, and American Civil Rights leader Malcolm X, as we welcome the authors of two new picture book biographies — who are direct descendants of these renowned leaders.

Join us as author ILYASAH SHABAZZ, the daughter of Malcolm X, presents her new biographical picture book about her father’s childhood, Malcolm Little: The Boy Who Grew Up to Become Malcolm X. In it, ILYASAH SHABAZZ offers a unique glimpse into the childhood of this charismatic leader, chronicling his journey to strength and self-reliance. Then author ARUN GANDHI, the grand-son of Mahatma Gandhi, along with co-author BETHANY HEGEDUS and illustrator EVAN TURK, will present a new non-fiction picture book, Grandfather Gandhi.
